Jack Doesn't like the Police...or Me, by Jason

I was just on the phone with my cousin Matt and I made the comment that I was in baby jail (I am home watching the kids and while getting Lili off of the steps...again, I was behind the bars of the banister). Jack heard me and said matter of factly, "I don't like when the police put me in jail."

After I got off of the phone I was taking them into the basement for some Sesame Street when Jack said, again matter of factly as he walked down the steps in front of me, "I don't like the police. I don't like the police...I don't even like you."

...made me laugh.

nate has always been afraid of the police and firemen and anyone in uniform. won't get anywhere near them. cries when he sees them. it's a little bit scary because if anything were to happen those are the very people he *should* go to, but he's terrified of them.

it is actually a very good tool for keeping him in line, though. if we see a cop when he's misbehaving we only have to point out the presence of the cop and he shapes up.

as for not liking you. it's not true. hard not to take personally, but he's probably just testing out the words more than anything else. wait until he says it with feeling. (then beat it out of him--KIDDING!) even then he's testing it out and trying to figure out whatever powerful emotions he's got going at the time.

ahhhh, motherhood. isn't is all baby jail? no! we love it all the time!

hugs to you.

Thanks Halo! Jason actually wrote this one, but I know what you mean! Jack will say, "Get away from me Mom!" When I walk away, and he says, "No mom, don't go!"
