We Made It!!!

We are home and we are never going anywhere again! At least not for a while. It is so nice.

The day went very well. We are very good at traveling: we medicated the cat and Jack is an angel. The day went without a hitch. Now we are home at Janine and Joe's waiting for chinese food...excellent good chinese food!

Thank you to Joe and Janine for opening up their home to us. We are looking forward to watching Jack and Teigan play together while we get settled back on the east coast for good. We can't wait to catch up with all of our family and friends who we can now see whenever we want, we just have to get in the car!

...time to rest!

And It's Done

I am almost too tired to write and Borat is one TV so it is even harder to concentrate, but the house is empty, the house is clean and now we are packing to get on the plane. We have to leave the house at 6:30 tomorrow morning, but then we only have one day of traveling separating us from being home.

Before we go, I wanted to put a couple of pictures up of our last times hanging out here.

Last Sunday, we all came over to the Mack's. Nate and Kristy had constructed a homemade apple grinder and a home-made apple press. Every yard here in Los Alamos has at least one apple tree, if not more, and the Mack's have three. So, we decided to make apple cider (hard apple cider). We worked into the night, which was a lot of fun and here are a few pictures:

This past Sunday was the move. It went super well. We started at 8:30 with three guys (people trickled in as the morning went on) and the house was empty by 11. Things were finalized, the cars were secured on the truck which pulled out at 12:30. I think it might have been some kind of record! So, we went to the Mack's had pizza and then started pressing more apples. From the three trees in the Mack's yard and two days of work we got 25 gallons of fresh squeezed apple cider. Then, we BBQd and took last pictures of the group:

That is about it. I have to pack and get to bed. Tomorrow will be a long day, but then we will be home!

The Truck is Here

The truck is here! It isn't even Sunday morning yet, it is Saturday night. Al and Obbie just came and dropped the trailer off in front of the house and went to park somewhere and sleep for the night. We have eight guys coming tomorrow to help us move and Al and Obbie said they would helptoo. They said we should be done by 1-2 tomorrow afternoon!

So, I am going to get up in the morning and go get coffee and donuts for our helpers and then we will get started around 9. Carisa and I are just putting the tape on our last boxes...it is most definitely the most organized we have ever been for a move. Also, great news: we talked to Al and Obbie about whether they would arrive next week on Saturday when we would have people to help us or on Friday when no one would be there, and the great news is that they were going to ask us if it was alright if they arrived on Saturday because that would be better for them!!! So, they will get there next week at Saturday!

After it is all done, I will let you know.

Jack says, "MINE!"

So the other day it happened, probably at playgroup, but Jack finally learned the word "mine". Now everything is "mine", that is...his. Just in time to practice it for when his little sister arrives.

UPDATE: We have figured out that Jack says, "mine" when he means to say, "I want that, can I have that please?" ;)

Less Than Two Weeks

In less than two weeks (12 days) we will be home for good. It is very surreal. Carisa is doing a great job packing up the house while I concentrate on tying up all my loose ends at work and help with what I can at home. It looks like things should come together nicely and hopefully with minimum stress. My mom comes out on Tuesday to help us with the process which will swing into high gear at that time. My last day at work is in less time: 6 days. Hard to believe. My new job starts in 17 days. Jack hasn't been sleeping very well lately so I am too tired to think of any interesting details other than the numbers.

While trying to wake up this morning I found some interesting data from a Professor at the University of Minnesota; here and here. It is pretty clear, that at least in the last presidential election (2004) the more uneducated a state was then the more likely they were to vote Republican (for Bush). Interesting: Statistically, uneducated equals Republican? Or, at least uneducated equals Bush, which is certainly obvious.
