more info
OK, so I wasn't able to give a lot of info yesterday but I have a minute now before I run off to work.
Jack Ryan Stairs was born on January 10, 2006 at 2:34 Mountain Time. Jack was born at 8lbs 3 oz (3714 grams) and is 20.75 inches (52.7 cm). His chest was about 14 inches (35.5 cm) around and his head was about 15 inches (38.1 cm) around! His due date was January 19th so he was 9 days early. Had mom gone to term, Jack most likely would have been a 9 pounder. Due to the altitude, most babies here are born at around 7 pounds so they have called Jack the Incredible Hulk.
Mom basically did it naturally. Her epidural wore off before she started pushing which went on for two hours before Jack made his appearance. She did great!!! I was scared to death, however, both mother and son are doing great! At one point, I must have been holding my breath with her while she pushed and then I would take deep breaths to try to get her to breath...a combination that made me a little dizzy, but after squatting down for about 15 seconds I was back to normal and back by her side.
Mom is pretty sore now and Jack is pretty tired so he mostly sleeps as you can see in the new pictures that I posted. One more night in the hospital and the whole family gets to go home.
I am sure we will have lots of pictures posted here over the next several weeks!!!! I hope you enjoy them almost as much as we are!
